Resurgence: Episode 1 – Nancy

JP Vercollone documents a project to help renovate the homes of people who need an extra hand.

After a lockdown project to turn an old set of bookshelves into a hidden door was successful, JP decided to take his new found skills to the community.  “It can be a huge help for families that need to focus on other priorities, while I can fix up their home,” JP said. “When I’m able to attend to minor repairs and furnishing, they’ll be able to clearly focus on the daily priorities in a productive setting. It affects more than just the place that they live – it improves how they can live.”

The correlation between the home environment and quality of life was brought into sharp relief for many people during the coronavirus pandemic as the amount of time spent in the house drastically increased due to nationwide lockdowns. After realising this, Vercollone was prompted to turn his hobby into something that might be able to help others. Documenting his journey along the way is cameraman, Dustin.

Although Vercollone has only released part of one episode, his intentions and vision are beginning to take shape. It’s clear what he wants to achieve, and I can see real potential for the documentary to be entertaining, informative and also quite funny. He demonstrates what can be achieved with a positive attitude and a willingness to see “I don’t know how to do that” as an opportunity to learn, rather than a sign to stop.
