Isolated / Lewis Costello – Short Film Review

Filmed in an empty theatre during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, stand-up comedian Lewis Costello brings a familiar comfort straight to our homes.

This year should have been something different for all of us. Not in the least those of us who are used to performing in front of large live audiences. Therefore it is somewhat unsettling that the empty theatre Lewis performs in feels more normal than a mass gathering of people.

Like many, Lewis has made the best of a bad situation – something we must all continue doing as these difficulties continue. Costello’s short film, Isolated, brings us a flavour of his comedy along with a poignant message of kindness, unity and selflessness.

Alongside his witty humour, Lewis reminds us that we are not alone. For me this was a true high point of the film. Lewis is genuine and shows true feeling – he is profoundly human. Comedy is at its best when it feels real, and Lewis Costello feels wholly genuine

I won’t try to explain why he is funny as you can see for yourselves very soon – the film will be released on YouTube on December 23rd for all to enjoy!
